Katana in Shirasaya with Koshirae.

Signature: Mu-mei (unsigned) attributed as Mihara.

Measurements approx.

Blade length :  66.4cm or 26.74inches.

Sori : 1.7cm or  1.725 inches.

Width at the hamachi : 2.76cm or  1.087inches.

Width at the Kissaki: 1.77cm or  0.7inches.

Kasane : 0.64 cm or 0.252 inches.

Era :late Edo period.

Jitetsu :Itame hada well grained with Jinie attach.

Hamon :Niedeki Gunome midare and Cyoji midare hamon mix.

 

Sayagaki: by Dr Kanzan.

Syouwa Kinoutora (1974) Cyusyubi Kanzan Shi.

 

NBTHK issued this sword as Taneyoshi. so opinion is different from NBTHK

and Kanzan sensei.  

 

Koshirae:

Tsuba: On the round shaped iron Tsuba, a flower and some design are pieced.

Fuchi-kashira: On the syakudo plate, a flower is engrave with gold color.

Menuki: On the syakudo plate flying bird is engrave.

Saya: Kawari-nuri saya which looks like cherry wood.

Koshirae condition: In excellent condition overall, Lacquer has a few minor separations

 

Blade: An older high end polish with a few scuffs and scratches, no fatal flaws.

Habaki: Gold foil

Shirasaya: With a few minor dents
